Are global superpowers such as the United States, the European Union, and China engaged in a race not to regulate artificial intelligence? Since the emergence of generative AI, a transformative technology, AI regulation has become a focal point in policy debates. In response, major jurisdictions have seen a surge in legislative and enforcement activity.
Join the UCLA Anderson Center for Global Management (CGM) and the UCLA School of Law’s Lowell Milken Institute for Business Law and Policy (LMI) in hosting Angela Huyue Zhang, author and leading authority on Chinese technology regulation for a thoughtful discussion and interactive conversation. Drawing insights from her latest book, “High Wire”, Angela Zhang will address this provocative question and challenge the prevailing narrative of a regulatory race, unveiling a strategic and multifaceted global regulatory landscape. She will examine how the distinct approaches of these superpowers could shape their AI competitiveness, offering a nuanced perspective on the intersection of regulation, innovation, and geopolitics.
