Stephen Bainbridge, the William D. Warren Distinguished Professor of Law, is one of the leading voices for the view that the proper purpose of the corporation is the maximization of shareholder value. In his new book, The Profit Motive, Professor Bainbridge sets forth a detailed and full-throated defense of the corporation’s purpose in the 21^st century.
