Peter Reilly, an Associate Professor of Law at Texas A&M School of Law, examined the rise in the use of deferred prosecution agreements.  Professor Reilly argued that this alternative dispute resolution vehicle does not serve the goals of the criminal justice system.  In addition, he argued that the unfettered use of deferred prosecution agreement could lead to unfairness, double standards, and potential abuse of power.
